How does the embryo transfer to a Surrogate Mother take place?

A Surrogate Mother who is physically ready for pregnancy is implanted with a ready-made embryo. This process is called «transfer of the embryo into the uterine cavity». It takes place within the walls of a medical institution under the supervision of an embryologist and reproductive specialist. The procedure lasts 20 minutes and is completely painless.

Where does the Surrogate Mother live after moving to St. Petersburg?

Our Center considers it obligatory that Surrogate Mothers live in St. Petersburg, so that they receive timely and professional medical care during pregnancy and childbirth. We are also sure that comfortable living in a specialized apartment for our Surrogate Mothers is an opportunity to feel calm and under the protection of the Center. All apartments are fully equipped for living — they have bed linen, all necessary appliances, and wireless internet. A surrogate mother only needs to take clothes with her, and when her tummy begins to grow and the shape of her body changes, our Center pays the Surrogate Mother 25,000 rubles for the purchase of special clothing and compression knitwear for pregnant women.

Can a Surrogate Mother accommodate relatives during pregnancy?

We can offer our Surrogate Mothers accommodation with one of their children. Accommodation of other relatives in an apartment for surrogate mothers is excluded, as this may create an unfavorable atmosphere for other Surrogate Mothers.

Can biological parents require a Surrogate Mother to fulfill certain conditions?

No, Genetic (Biological) Parents cannot put forward any conditions to the Surrogate Mother. All the conditions that a surrogate mother must comply with are spelled out in our contract. For our part, we ensure that these conditions do not contradict common sense, morality and ethics, or moral considerations. We respect our Surrogate Mothers and make their stay in the Program as comfortable as possible, both physically and emotionally.

At whose expense does a Surrogate Mother eat and purchase the necessary medications?

Each Surrogate Mother is entitled to a monthly payment of 30,000 rubles for improved nutrition, and the necessary medicines are bought and provided by our Center.

What are the potential complications of surrogate pregnancy?

According to the terms of the Program, a Surrogate Mother must be the mother of at least one of her own children. And this is not an accidental measure — Surrogate Mothers need to understand how pregnancy proceeds in order to know what to expect from their bodies during this period. Otherwise, all complications are not related to the fact that pregnancy occurred through the IVF procedure.

Is sexual intercourse allowed during pregnancy for a Surrogate Mother?

After the Surrogate Mother has passed all the tests necessary for joining the program, sexual intercourse must be excluded, since there is a risk of sexual transmission of infections and gynecological diseases, and this can threaten the pregnancy progression and the health of the child. Also, contractions of the uterus during intercourse can cause miscarriage or premature labor. In order to bear and give birth to a healthy baby, we need to think about the possible consequences of sexual contact that threaten the entire Program as a whole, and all the efforts spent on the birth of a new life. The Surrogate Mother is responsible for following this rule.

Can genetic parents abandon a child born by a Surrogate Mother?

Surrender of the child is very unlikely. But in a situation when a child is deprived of his legal parents for any reason, the Russian Federation takes care of such a child and the child is sent to the Baby House. Since, legally, a surrogate mother is not the parent and official guardian of the child, after giving birth she is not responsible for the child who is born. Immediately after birth, the child is transferred to legal guardians (the Genetic Parents or the state).
